|The ULTIMATE Real-time Reporting
Solution - Live Indicator Thumbnails on your Intranet Pages
A key component to improving
processes and outcomes is to make sure that everyone
with a stake in the process has easy access to the
current information. A particular challenge that exists
for most organizations is to make updated measure
information available as soon as new data is available.
With batch reporting systems this is not possible
since the entire report is made available when the
slowest indicator is completed. The reality is that
indicators flow at their own rates; as soon as a quarter
completes, there are some measures (e.g. inpatient
volume) that you have the data for. If you can deliver
information to users as soon as it is available, you
will be providing them with more time to react and
adjust processes which will allow your organization
to meet your performance goals sooner.
With the recent efforts that healthcare organizations
have put into intranet development, you can now use
this framework to also make real-time indicator performance
available to stakeholders. For example, you can add
live thumbnails of key nursing indicators which show
the current performance to your nursing page. These
thumbnails are current and when a user clicks on one,
it will bring up the detailed information for that
indicator. You can click on the thumbnail above to
bring up the detailed output.
|Comparing Physician Peer Performance
The Statit piMD compare table is
a great tool for comparing the performance of providers,
facilities, departments or other classes for an indicator.
The compare table helps to answer the following questions:
- Who (provider, facility, unit) is performing better
or worse than their peers?
- How can you take low volume into account?
|Managing Performance Data to
Improve Medication Safety
Medication safety is a primary patient safety
focus of virtually all healthcare delivery organizations.
As an organizational priority at Kaiser Permanente, dedicated
resources ensure medication safety.
Understanding which measurements are important,
how to best collect data for the measurements, and
how the data and measurements should drive performance
improvement are critical in any medication safety
initiative. Kalev Golubjatnikov, Patient Safety
and Risk Director for Kaiser Permanente's San Rafael
Medical Center, will describe how some of the Kaiser
Permanente medical facilities are using a variety
of technologies and approaches, including a Web-based
dashboard to manage data to improve medication safety.

Beyond OPPE - Effective Tools to Manage Physician
Back by popular demand...
There is a lot of focus within healthcare to meet
The Joint Commission's OPPE requirements for physicians.
But if you step back and look at the bigger picture,
what is really needed are more effective tools for the
physician chiefs to understand and manage the performance
of their physician groups (specialties).
Questions chiefs need to look at when effectively
managing physician groups include:
- How is my physician group performing on the various
- Which physicians are truly performing differently?
Volume must be considered when identifying whose performance
- Can I easily drill thru performance data in different
ways to identify underlying performance issues? For
example, a chief might look at cost data to understand
why costs are high for a specific procedure.
- How do I identify which physicians are not meeting
targets on multiple measures? Chiefs need the ability
to click and view the details for those physicians.
- How do I know what my OPPE tasks are this month?
Join us to learn how Statit PPR meets OPPE requirements
and takes you well beyond by providing easy-to-use tools
for chiefs to understand and manage the performance
of their physician groups.
