Educational Society for Resource Management
APICS, the Educational Society for Resource Management, is a globally recognized not-for-profit organization that is "dedicated to using education to improve the business bottom line." This organization was founded in 1957 as the American Production and Inventory Control Society and changed its name as its focus expanded to include education, standards of excellence and integrated resource management. APICS offers certification in two internationally recognized programs: CPIM and CIRM. National Institute of Standards and Technology
Since 1988, more than 1.5 million copies of the Baldridge Criteria have been distributed. Over the past several years, the National Institute of Standards and Technology has modified the criteria to focus more on overall performance excellence and business results. The 1999 Baldridge Criteria has a new, easier-to-use format, which includes a series of questions covering seven key areas: leadership, strategic planning, customer and market focus, information and analysis, human resource focus, process management and business results.
