HTML Templates - How Can They Help You?

Have you ever wanted to provide only summary level information to management and still provide some detailed information to your engineers? Do you have different sites that all access the same metrics, but need to have some details customized to their specific site needs? Do you have sites in different locations around the globe that speak different languages and do you want output customized to their language? Do you have different groups within your company that have different terms for their metrics; would you like to have customized output for them? Have you ever just wanted to put a new spin on some old reports?

A new feature in the recently released Statit e-QC 4.0 allows customers to do all of those things! Using HTML templates and Statit, customized sections of your report can be displayed anywhere on a web page. Furthermore, the HTML template can contain any amount of static text and styling attributes. The real beauty of HTML Templates is that it separates the presentation layer from the script layer by allowing the script to reference an HTML file that becomes the output of the report, but which utilizes sections of output generated in Statit script. This allows people who are not familiar with Statit script to customize output to their needs.

Take, for example, the need to present a chart to upper management that shows a trend for a measurement. We would only want management to see an X-Bar chart in our example, and maybe a small table displaying the details of any out of control points on the chart. In our organization we also have engineers who need to have more detailed analysis of the metric that we’re reporting. A histogram and a chart of the range might come in handy to these engineers. While engineering normally likes to see even more details than this, we’ll try to keep this simple for our example. You can see in the output below two distinct views of the metric for Width. Both sets of output are created from the exact same Statit e-QC macro, but they just have a different template provided.

This example and others are available on our Statit e-QC demo site in case you would like to have a more interactive demonstration of the HTML Template feature. If you are an existing Statit e-QC customer and you would like training on HTML Templates or any of the other new Statit e-QC 4.0 features, please contact .
